Active Learning Summer Intern Introductions: James Gui

What’s up my dudessssssssssss! My name is James Gui, and I’m a rising sophomore studying Computer Science with a secondary in Math. I was born in Vancouver, raised in Connecticut, and tanned in California.

From a young age, I’ve always loved to make people laugh. There’s nothing like the happy feeling you get when you bring a smile to another person’s face. Since I’m a very clumsy person, making others laugh comes pretty naturally to me. As a kid, I would make home videos with my brother to show to my parents.

In college, I do long-form improvisational comedy and write for Satire V, a humor newspaper. Improv lets me express my wacky side, while satire lets me write comedy that carries a message for social change. I think laughter is the best medicine, and in an increasingly unstable world, comedy is a light that leads us to better times.
